Western Antarctica
An article
by Diana Lutz of Washington University in St. Louis notes that they have found
an expanding rift zone between Eastern Antarctica and Western Antarctica. In
other words, the two parts of the continent don't mesh together as a truly
solid mass.
Readers of my book will not be surprised that Eastern
Antarctica and Western Antarctica (which I treat as two very separate
continents) don't fit together well. After all, they merely chanced to run into
each other
there is no need to think that their coastlines would fit
together well.
